Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarship and volunteering for the community. The first time Selmon was born by Lucious and Jessie Selmon on an agricultural property near Eufala within Oklahoma as one of their nine children. He played football with his three brothers in Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. Also, they won 2 national titles. The National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon earned a diploma from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work during his college years. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing with the Buccaneers. Three times he was named All-Pro. He began his business career. By 1988, he became an Account Relations officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that the year 1982 was when the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6-2. In his time at for college, he was the head coach of the 1975 team. He joined the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
